Justin McCoy

Justin has been composing and arranging music for many years.

As a founding member of the 80s-90s Orchestral Rock group Hat Trick, he was responsible for arranging many of their classical hits, including Mozart's Eine Kliene Nachtmusik, Khachaturian's Sabre Dance, Rossini's William Tell Overture and the classical/rock mashup Beethoven Roll Over.

Hat Trick blended two electric fiddles with rock rhythm section to produce classical music the likes of which had not been heard in Sydney pubs before.

Post Hat Trick Justin moved into producing and composing for TV. This has resulted in a long and successful career, highlights of which are listed below.

He is active as a live performer in Highly Strung, with wife Bernadette and sister Mary, also founding Hat Trick members.

In 2011 Justin saw a need for a School Choir system which would be completely self-contained, thereby taking some of the load off busy music teachers. The concept involves arranging hits from the rock repertoire, predominately for 3 part harmony, and providing simple yet effective guitar and keyboard backing, together with string ensemble accompaniment in selected songs..
This means that students from many areas of the music faculty can be involved.

More recently School Choir Music has progressed into arrangements for younger students, as well as band and orchestral arrangements
